Babylonstoren's formal garden is extraordinary — laid out in the shape of a fig leaf, with sections dedicated to different food-producing plants, herbs, bees, and even a fishpond. Children who eat food (which is all of them) find the connection between what grows here and what appears on a plate genuinely interesting. There's a children's area within the gardens and the food at Babel restaurant is some of the best in the country.

It's an unusual combination — wine tasting for the adults, genuine wildlife for the children — that works remarkably well.
