A nature reserve in northern Pretoria named after an extraordinary 1,000-year-old wild fig tree that is a sight worth visiting on its own — a vast, multi-trunked giant that covers a remarkable area. The reserve also contains the ruins of a British-built fort and easy walking trails through thorn bushveld with klipspringers, vervet monkeys, and good birdlife.
