Herbert Baker's grand government building in Arcadia, set in terraced indigenous gardens with a large Nelson Mandela statue and sweeping views over Pretoria. Free to visit and particularly beautiful in October when the surrounding jacarandas are in bloom — the lawns make a good spot for a picnic. Baby and toddler friendly with easy, wide paths throughout.
